Cross Wires is a London-based band that I’ve been meaning to write about for a while now. You may have heard their track ‘From The Bowery to Bethnal Green’ if you’ve been keeping up with my Music Monday features. If you’ve missed it, here it is!

The song greets the listener boldly, before the nonchalant breakdown that flows like silk; the guitars are smooth, with the abrasive interrupting riff accentuating the angst of the lyrics. The lead’s superb rock vocals contain a slight grit, which along with the airy backing vocals, creates an atmosphere that is half dreamlike and half rocky against the melody.

‘Central Sea’ gives off a Stone Roses vibe with a dominant punk attitude. This song oozes confidence in the truest sense of the word, most obviously in lyrics like,

Away from me, you’re lost at sea.

The very introduction of drums at the start of the song and the unwavering strength of the percussion throughout, touches your bones.

Grumbling guitars, sturdy bass and vocals that go as high as the moon? Check, check and check. This song is the whole package creating an unbreakable wall of sound. It’s absolute madness and it’s absolutely addictive.

Their track ‘Don’t Go Surfing’ is currently stuck in my head though. From an older EP called, Animal Heat, it is the DEFINITION of “rock’n'roll”. I’m blasting it through my speakers at the moment and so should you.

The vocals are smashing, the guitars are cracking, and the beat is in your face in that obnoxiously perfect kind of way to give it that flame it needs! Once this one goes live, the world is going to know it….it is loud!!!

Get excited for this band and follow them on Twitter @CrossWiresBand.

You can also LIKE their Facebook page.

And seeing as the rest of their tunes are pretty great as well, visit their Soundcloud HERE.

Share the love, share the music. Enjoy!
