Modern Faces

Meet some of the great purveyor’s of rock’n'roll today. Hailing from Scotland, Modern Faces are shining a light on guitar music with provocative riffs, evocative vocals and power choruses galore…

‘Cynical Brother’ is the quintessential rock’n’roll anthem, with resonances of Oasis in the sheer magnitude of the tune.

The immediate blasting guitars set the stage – the melodies capturing the spirit (not talking of lyrical content/rhythmic structure here) of much of the Gallagher brothers’ work: living forever, staying young and invincible etc… With the instrumental layering and embracing vocals of ‘Cynical Brother’, the ambiance is the same as that of the aforementioned Oasis songs: youthful. Animated. Unbreakable.
It captures and unites the audience, prepping the band for the development what is likely to be an insanely huge cult following!

The other part to this double A side, ‘Pravda Scrolls’, gives a lot to listen to and the overall product is a thing to be admired. This song has seductive edge and gritty underground bass lines giving raw tension and paving the way for the pre-chorus, its vocal build-up and ascension…
I was thinking, with so much adrenaline flowing through the song already, the chorus had a lot to live up to. But as soon as Monty (lead vocalist) sings, “Propaganda, a social liar”, you recoil a little – the biting strength surprising. To make a long story short, the chorus is absolutely massive; it’s founded upon a combo of firm lyrics and slicing guitars. And the drum transition after the second rendition is bursting with attitude.

I’m EXTREMELY excited about these guys and their fresh hooks, daring riffs, and charisma; you’ll want to follow them on Twitter: @ModernFaces and LIKE their Facebook page – make sure you don’t miss out!

Also stay tuned for an interview in the near future! Share the love and enjoy the music.
